About This Blog

My name is Max Smith, and I’m a student at Montana State University studying the mighty food system we’ve inherited in a degree program called Sustainable Foods and Bioenergy Systems.  Take a look!

I intend to make myself useful to both land and people through a career propagating many organic vegetables and grains, and distributing them to people I can form relationships with.  This is important to me, because I see food as the ULTIMATE organizing tool for social and environmental change.  Think about it: how many transformational thoughts have you shared over meals with good friends (or even new friends)?  How many have catalyzed citizen projects that have paved a new existence for yourself or other people in the community you live in?  I can think of a few that I’ve participated in . . . (Purple Frog Gardens ASB, 1000 New Gardens Montana, Coffee2Compost, Neighborhood Fruit Foraging)

The purpose of this blog is to share thoughts that I have about the many interactions of food access, nutrition, and communities.  I hope you dig it!
